The J.C. Higgins Model 42 is a vintage bolt-action .22 caliber rifle that was sold by Sears, Roebuck & Co. and is generally a rebranded version of a specific Marlin or High Standard model. It is well-regarded as a reliable “no-frills” utility or first hunting rifle. It has a birch wood smooth stock, and 1 – 7 rnd detachable magazine. Has some slight exterior pitting and some scratches on the stock. Please see photos.
