The J.C. Higgins Model 42 is a vintage .22 caliber bolt-action rifle that was manufactured by Marlin for Sears, Roebuck & Co.. It is a magazine-fed repeating rifle known for its reliability and is a re-branded version of the Marlin Model 80 rifle series. Though chambered for .22 Long Rifle (LR) ammunition, and can also typically fire .22 Short and .22 Long rounds. It is a magazine-fed repeater, utilizing a detachable magazine, features a beaded blade front sight and a buckhorn-style rear sight, walnut stock, and a J.C Higgins marked 4X scope with a fine cross hair reticle.
