Manufactured by the U.S. Repeating Arms Company under the Winchester brand name between 1983 and 1985, this Winchester Model 94 AE XTR Big Bore .375 Winchester lever-action rifle bears serial number AE16978, placing its production firmly within the highly collectible initial run of the "AE" prefixed Angle Eject series. Purpose-built on a structurally beefed-up receiver frame that features noticeably thickened rear walls to handle the high pressures of the straight-walled .375 Winchester cartridge, this model utilizes the Angle Eject (AE) system which throws spent hulls out to the right side rather than straight up to facilitate low-profile top scope mounting. Representing a highly scarce cross-section of modern Model 94 history, this gun is one of only an estimated 19,000 Angle Eject units ever manufactured in .375 Winchester before the chambering was officially dropped, making it significantly rarer than the earlier "BB" prefixed Top Eject variants. As a premium XTR variant, the rifle features a distinctive high-gloss metal bluing alongside deluxe checkered walnut furniture, presenting a short-lived and prized combination of upgraded factory cosmetics with specialized cartridge engineering prior to the line being discontinued in the late 1980s; for a comprehensive look at the wood finish, bore clarity, and action, please see the photos.
