Manufactured in 1968 as per serial number. Nylon 66 is a groundbreaking, discontinued .22 LR semi-automatic rifle, famous for being one of the first successful mass-produced firearms with a synthetic stock. It was highly regarded for its exceptional durability, light weight, and reliability, even without lubrication. The most distinctive feature of the Nylon 66 is its stock and receiver assembly, made from a high-strength nylon polymer called Zytel 101, developed by DuPont. The bolt mechanism actually slides along grooves in the self-lubricating nylon receiver. Manufactured from 1959 to 1989 (with some production possibly into the early 1990s from leftover parts), over one million units were produced, making it Remington’s best-selling rimfire rifle. Includes a Tasco 4×15 scope with a fine cross hair reticle and rings. Has signs of use with scratches on the stock and some light surface rust on the receiver and some finish wear on the muzzle.
