The Lefever Nitro Special 12-gauge is a historic, rugged side-by-side boxlock shotgun manufactured by the Ithaca Gun Company under the “Lefever Arms Company” brand name from 1921 to 1948. Ithaca originally introduced the model to serve as an affordable, durable “working man’s” field gun that could compete at a lower price point than their own higher-grade graded doubles. The name “Nitro Special” was strategically used to market the gun as fully safe for modern, smokeless “nitro” powder shells, which were unsafe to fire in older Damascus steel barrels. Chambered for 2 �� shells with a fixed Left Full and a Right Modified choke, walnut furniture, double triggers, and a LOP of 14�. It is in its original patina with some of its original blued finish, and there is some freckling visible. There are some scratches on the wood furniture as well. Please see photos. C&R
