The Romanian PSL (Pu?ca Semiautomata cu Luneta, “scoped semi-automatic rifle”) is a designated marksman rifle based on the RPK light machine gun, not a true SVD Dragunov, though it shares a similar appearance and purpose. It has been in service since 1974. Despite external similarities to the SVD, the PSL is mechanically an enlarged RPK, featuring a strengthened, bulged stamped steel receiver and a long-stroke piston system. It was designed as a squad-level designated marksman rifle, intended to engage targets beyond the range of standard AKM assault rifles. With quality match ammunition and in good condition, PSLs can achieve groups of 1.25 to 1.5 MOA (Minute of Angle) at 100 yards, while average surplus ammunition typically yields 1.75 to 3 MOA. The AK-based action is highly regarded for its ruggedness and reliability in adverse conditions. Includes 2 – 10 rnd magazines and Original I.O.R Valdada scope with range finding reticle.
