- Primary Function: The system works by detecting electromagnetic security markers—such as 3M Tattle-Tape or QuadraTag markers—hidden inside books or media. If a person walks between the system's detection panels (lattices) with an item that has not been properly checked out or demagnetized, the unit triggers a visible and audible alarm.
- Power Specifications: The electronics enclosure operates on a universal power range supporting 100–120VAC or 200–240VAC.
- Operation: According to the 3M Detection Systems Operator's Manual, the system is designed to be left on continuously. When starting it up via the On/Off key switch, it typically requires about 15 seconds to cycle through its initial configuration and become active.
