Item description:

This antique estate lot features a collection of five primitive manual woodworking and boring tools. The collection is highlighted by a heavy-duty Millers Falls style dual-gear breast drill complete with its original adjustable auxiliary side handle, a curved steel chest plate, and an enclosed mechanical drive wheel. The breast drill is paired with four vintage sweep bit brace hand drills featuring classic turned wooden top knobs and hand grips, perfect for antique tool collectors, industrial decor, or traditional carpentry workshops.

Lot Includes:
1 Antique dual-gear manual breast drill with curved chest plate
4 Antique manual sweep bit brace hand drills with turned wood grips

Please review all photos carefully to evaluate the exact cosmetic condition and weathering before bidding.

Condition Overview
Manual Breast Drill: The heavy mechanical breast drill is structurally intact. The large exposed drive gear, dual-pinion bevel system, and primary turning crank handle rotate properly, though the moving parts exhibit moderate surface rust, grease grime, and age-related stiffness. The upper curved metal breast plate remains firmly attached, showing a small piece of old yellow masking tape from historic inventorying. The turned hardwood crank handle and chuck sleeve are physically solid with standard surface scuffs.
Sweep Bit Brace Drills: The four manual brace drills feature sturdy bent-steel frames with a heavily weathered antique patina, scattered pitting, and uniform oxidation rust. The turned wooden top knobs and central hand grips are securely seated on their pins; two of the knobs retain a dark, smooth, polished varnish finish, while the others show advanced wear, paint loss, and dry wood grain exposure. The ratchet chuck heads and internal jaws are present but weathered, with one chuck body showing significant oxidation crusting along the threaded sleeve.
