Description: A large, vintage figural Majolica-style ceramic cachepot or planter molded in the form of a stylized koi fish or carp. Covered in a thick, high-gloss white slip glaze with an elegant, all-over fine crackle or crazing pattern. The sculptural vessel features highly detailed embossed scales, prominent fan-shaped pectoral and tail fins, an anatomical wavy rim opening along the top spine, and two set-in black and amber glass or glazed eyes.
Dimensions: Measures approximately 12.5 inches in length from snout to tail, 8.5 inches in width across the body, and stands 8.75 inches in height.
Markings: The unglazed flat base features an incised mold production code number reading "59" alongside faint red ink inspection initials.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The structural ceramic body is solid and retains a brilliant overall gloss. The exterior displays uniform, intentional underglaze crazing lines typical of heavy white earthenware. A tiny glaze-deep nick is present along the upper rim margin, and minor manufacturing pinholes or pitting spots can be seen on the fins. The interior basin shows natural coloration, dark ring sediment, and residual surface wear consistent with historical plant use.
